Chipotle has more than 50 million customers in the US and UK, with the US sales hitting $1.8bn (£934m) in 2017, according to data from comScore.
The burger chain also has a foothold in South America, where its burrito has been a hit.
In Brazil, Chipotle has been the first fast-food chain to open an entire new location.
The chain also operates in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Spain.
Chipotles burger has a reputation for its low prices and low-sugar-added ingredients, which make it an attractive option for many people.
Its popularity has been boosted by the launch of the Chipotle Bacon-wrapped Chicken Sandwich in the UK in November 2017, which is available at every Chipotle outlet across the country.
Chipots UK spokesman Matt Brown said: “We are incredibly pleased to welcome our new US franchisee, Chipotles, to the UK for its first UK outlet, and we’re looking forward to serving customers in both the UK, and across the US, in the years to come.”
Chipotle is owned by General Mills, a multinational food and beverage company that also owns Taco Bell and Wendy’s.
Chipos also owns a number of other food brands, including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Chipos, Chipolatos, and El Dorado.
